Terrapin Cowan and Wolverine Teske share Player of Week accolade after MVP performances

 

Co-Players of the Week

Anthony Cowan Jr., Maryland

G – Sr. – 6-0 – Bowie, Md. – St. John’s College High School – Major: Masters of Professional Studies in Technology Entrepreneurship

  • Averaged 24.0 points and 4.3 assists per game in leading the Terrapins to the Orlando Invitational championship as he was named the event’s MVP
  • Connected on 9-of-20 3-point field goals in the three games for 45 percent from beyond the arc
  • Named NCAA Player of the Week after his weekly performance
  • Posted 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in the championship win over Marquette
  • Became the 18th player in Maryland history to record 1,500 career points with his performance versus the Golden Eagles
  • Netted a career-high 30 points, making 11-of-19 from the floor, in the win against Temple
  • Poured in 20 points along with five assists, three steals and two rebounds against Harvard
  • Earns the first Player of the Week accolade of his career

Jon Teske, Michigan

C – Sr. – 7-1 – Medina, Ohio. – Medina High School – Major: General Studies

  • Earned MVP of the Battle 4 Atlantis after leading the Wolverines to three victories including wins over No. 6/4 North Carolina in the semifinals and No. 8/7 Gonzaga in the title game
  • Averaged 13.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.3 blocked shots per game while shooting 58.6 from the floor in the trio of games
  • In the championship game versus Gonzaga, posted 19 points, a career-high 15 rebounds  and four blocked shots while converting 9-of-15 from the floor
  • Tallied 10 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks against the Tar Heels
  • Netted 11 points and corralled six boards in the win over Iowa State
  • Earns the first Player of the Week accolade of his career

Freshman of the Week

Trayce Jackson-Davis, Indiana
F – 6-9 – Greenwood, Ind. – Center Grove High School – Major: Sport Marketing

  • Averaged 20.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots in a pair of Hoosier wins
  • Posted double-doubles in both games while shooting 53.8 percent from the floor
  • Notched 21 points and 11 rebounds in a victory over Louisiana Tech
  • Tallied 19 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots in a win over South Dakota State
  • Earns the second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor of his career and his second in three weeks
