The 2024 B1G Ten Women’s Conference Championships presented by TIAA

The 2024 B1G Ten Women’s Conference Championships presented by TIAA have reached the semi-final round.
Today’s games are set with eighth seeded Maryland facing fifth seeded Nebraska in Game One.

The second game features second seeded Iowa against sixth seeded Michigan.

In the first semi-final game of the 2024 B1G Ten Women’s Conference basketball tournament presented by TIAA, fifth seeded Nebraska handled Maryland 78 to 68.

Nebraska came into the game by downing Michigan State while Maryland upset Ohio State, the regular season champion.

This game can be summed up with two words, Jazmine (Jaz) Shelley.

Shelley poured in 30 points by going for ten of sixteen shots which included six of twelve from behind the arc and led the team with nine assists.

But no shot was larger than her shot while fading into the sidelines which kept the Huskers on top by nearly double digits.

No other Husker was in double figures, but the balance of the Huskers was just as crucial as all everything Alexis Markowski scored nine points and collected 13 rebounds before fouling out trying to grab a rebound.

Nebraska is a team and it showed as the Huskers scored 29 bench points.

Leading the charge was Annika Stewart with nine, Callen Hake with seven points and Kendall Coley added six.

Leading Maryland was Faith Masonius, who has played an outstanding B1G Ten tournament scored 14 points, on five of eleven from the field and a team high nine rebounds.

Allie Kubek added 11 on five of seven shots with Brianne Alexander added ten.

Shayanne Sellers led the Terrapins with 15 points and a team high seven assists.

Nebraska 22-10 moves on to the Championship game while Maryland bows out at 19-13.

The second game was an Iowa Hawkeye rout of Michigan 95 to 68.

Michigan started the game off with a lead after one quarter 25 to 22 over Iowa behind the shooting of Jordan Hobbs and Lauren Hansen.

The rest of the game was, let’s say, a runaway train headed straight at Michigan.

The damage was done by the reigning Player of the Year, Caitlin Clark with deft passing and drives and her famous logo shots. Also, Sydney Affolter hitting three’s and drives in the paint and rebounding the ball for the Hawkeyes.

Clark for the game scored 28 points that came on ten of nineteen shots, including four of eleven from behind the arc. Clark added 15 assists to her Hawkeye teammates.

Affolter scored 12 points on five of six from the field and two out of three from long range. Affolter kept her solid play with another seven rebounds.

Hannah Stuelke added sixteen on seven of seven from the field.

Kate Martin added 13 and claimed six rebounds.

Addison O’Grady added eight along with Gabbie Marshall and A J Ediger added six a piece.

Michigan was led by Laila Phelia scored a team high 21 points on eight of sixteen sixteen shots from the field along with a team high seven assists.

Jordan Hobbs added fourteen while Lauren Hansen added 13.

Woodson scored seven points for Michigan off the bench.

Iowa moves on to play Nebraska in the B1G Ten Women’s Basketball Conference championship presented by TIAA.

Both Maryland and Michigan now wait to see if they will be selected for the NCAA Tournament.
