Terps Second Half to much for Purdue Women

Maryland rights the ship in second half

The Ninth-ranked (Excel H Sports) Maryland Terrapins came into Mackey Arena, Saturday afternoon to do battle against the Purdue Boilermakers.

The Boilermakers of Head Coach Katie Geralds came ready to play and had all the momentum as they outplayed the Terps and led 18 to six after the first stanza.

South Bend Washington graduate, Rashunda Jones brought her A game into the contest and with spirited play would be a central figure in the second quarter and led the Lady Boilers to a first half break to a 38 to 29 margin over the Terps.

The second half was different as Maryland came out of their locker room with purpose.

Bri McDaniel was huge for the Terps in the second half as she led them back to a 55 to 52 third quarter lead, one they would not lose.

For the game, Saylor Poffenbarger would lead the Terps with 17 points and 13 boards while Bri McDaniel adding 16 points and leading the team with a game high five assists.

Kaylene Swikle added 13, Shyanne Sellers 12 and Christian Dolce scored ten points and secured eleven rebounds.

Purdue was led by Rashunda Jones with 17 points on seven of eleven shooting from the floor.

Reagan Bass added 16 on seven of twelve from the floor, Destini Lombard added 15 on six of thirteen while Kendall Puryear added ten points on four of six shooting for the game.

Lana McCarthy led the Boilers with seven boards while Ella Collier added eight points and grabbed five boards.

Purdue shot 50.6% percent from the field while Maryland won the battle of the boards with a 39 to 30 advantage.
