Streeval, three others earn IBCA Player of the Week honors

Tate, Brittain-Watts and Middlesworth also claim accolades after helping teams to state titles

Eli Streeval poured in 35 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead Morristown to the Class A state championship, and the Yellow Jackets’ senior headlines the honorees in this week’s IBCA/Subway Player of the Week program.

Streeval is joined by Warren Central senior Dean Tate, Culver Military Academy junior Ethan Brittain-Watts and Oak Hill senior Caleb Middlesworth as recipients for the week of March 19-24 in the awards program coordinated by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

Brittain-Watts is the winner for District 1. Tate and Middlesworth are honorees for District 2. Streeval received accolades for District 3. All four players helped their teams to a state championship.

The 6-0 Streeval added three assists and one blocked shot in keying Morristown to an 89-60 victory over Southwood for the Class A title. He converted 14-of-18 field goals, including 5-of-8 3-pointers, plus 2-of-2 free throws as the Yellow Jackets completed their season at 28-2.

This is the 10th season for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week program and the sixth season it is presented by Subway Restaurants of Indiana, a banner sponsor of the IBCA. Subway, in its seventh season as an IBCA sponsor, encourages athletes to “train hard and eat fresh.”

Player of the Week winners generally are chosen each week from each of the IHSAA’s three districts. This is the final set of winners for 2017-18. The boys’ and girls’ seasons are now complete.
