Big Ten Announces 2025-26 Men’s Basketball Conference Schedule

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference announced a full breakdown of its 180 men’s basketball conference matchups for the 2025-26 season, as revealed live Thursday on the Big Ten Network. For the eighth consecutive year, each Big Ten Conference member institution will compete in a 20-game conference schedule.

The Big Ten Conference season will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 2, with three games as Iowa visits Michigan State, Rutgers welcomes Purdue, and USC travels to Oregon. A total of 18 conference games will be played between Dec. 2-13 before conference play breaks until January 2026.

Following the holiday break, Big Ten action will resume on Friday, Jan. 2 with three games.

During the conference season, each member institution will play a 20-game league schedule, facing three schools both home and away, while meeting 14 teams once. Of the single-play opponents, member institutions will play seven at home and seven on the road.

The 29th Big Ten Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will be played March 10-15, 2026, at the United Center in Chicago, marking the first Big Ten Tournament to feature an 18-team field.

The tournament will open on Tuesday, March 10 with a pair of games featuring the number 15-18 seeds. Wednesday’s schedule will include four contests, as Tuesday’s winners will join seeds 9-14 in second round action.

Seeds 5-8 will begin tournament play on Thursday, with the top four seeds slated to open their postseasons in Friday’s quarterfinal round. The semifinal contests are scheduled for Saturday, with a champion crowned following Sunday’s title game. CBS Sports will broadcast the semifinals and championship game on CBS for the 29th consecutive year, with those games also streaming live on Paramount+.

Last season, Michigan State posted a 17-3 mark in conference play to secure its 17th Big Ten championship and first since 2020. Michigan, who entered the Big Ten Tournament as the number three seed, topped No. 5 seed Wisconsin 59-53 to win its third tournament crown.
