Excel H Sports SPOTLIGHT is highlighting BEYOND THE POWER 4 and FCS individual accomplishments in their team setting.
1) In North Texas State‘s Mean Green win over South Alabama 36-to-22-win, Green Quarterback, Drew Mestemaker threw for 234 yards, and a touchdown pass on 14 of 26 passing attempts. RB Caleb Hawkins rushed 16 times for 140 yards and two scores while the Defense was led by Troy Fields 14 total tackles and four solos and Shane Whitter‘s twelve tackles and five solos.
2) The Naval Academy won their fourth game of the season with a 21 to 13 win over Rice behind Midshipmen quarterback Blake Horvath‘s eight of thirteen passing attempts for 172 yards and 110 yards rushing on 21 attempts. Running back Alex Tecza rushed for 104 yards on 11 carries while on defense MarcAnthony Parker‘s 13 total tackles with be accredited with six solo tackles.
3) Memphis ran their record to five wins without a setback by downing Florida Atlantic 55 to 26. Memphis quarterback Brendon Lewis threw for 196 yards on two scores and 13 of 19 passing attempts. RB Greg Desrosiers, Jr. rushed for three touchdowns on 19 carries for 204 yards. Receiver Cortez Braham Jr. caught six passes for 127 yards and two scores. On defense, DeMarco Ward had nine tackles to lead the Tiger defense. Florida Atlantic quarterback Caden Veltkamp threw for 318 yards on 31 of 50 passing attempts.
4) Kennesaw State captured a w in the win column with a 24 to 16 victory over Middle Tennessee. Kennesaw State quarterback Amari Odom threw for 162 yards and two scores on 11 of 17 passing attempts. RB Coleman Bennett rushed twelve times for 101 yards while on defense, Baron Hopson led the team with eleven total tackles. Middle Tennessee quarterback Nicholas Vattiato threw for 285 yards on 28 of 42 passing while both Nahzae Cox and Cam’ron Lacy combined for twelve receptions for 153 total yards.
5) New Mexico downed in state rival New Mexico State 38 to 20 behind quarterback Jack Layne‘s 303 yards of passing on 23 of 30 attempts resulting in four touchdowns with receiver Keagan Johnson caught five passes for 117 yards and a score. Keyshawn James-Newby led the Lobo defense with 5 total tackles, three solo tackles and 2 1/2 tackles for loss.
6) Hawai’i downed the Air Force Academy 44 to 35. Quarterback Micah Alejado threw for an outstanding 457 yards on 35 completions in 47 attempts for three scores. Jackson Harris led the receiving corps with seven receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Six receivers totaled more than 35 yards each with Cam Barfield totaling 64 yards, Pofele Ashlock 52 yards, Brandon White 50 yards, Tama Uiliata 42 and Landon Sims 37 yards.
7) Vanderbilt 55 Utah State 35. Utah State quarterback threw for 161 yards on 15 of 22 passing attempts for three touchdowns and rushed ten more times for 48 yards while fellow QB Jacob Conover threw for 92 yards on 11 of 14 and two scores while RB Javen Jacobs rushed four times for 63 yards. Receivers Broc Lane and Braden Pegan combined for 14 receptions for 164 yards while on defense, John Miller and Noah Avinger each totaled twelve tackles.
8) Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Paiva threw for 321 yards, five scores on 26 of 34 attempts and rushed nine times for 79 yards and a score. Receivers Junior Sherrill six receptions for 91 yards and three touchdowns, Tre Richardson six catches for 74 yards, Richie Hoskins four receptions for 70 yards and a score and Eli Stowers 68 yards on six receptions for a touchdown.
9) Washington State claimed victory over Colorado State 20 to 3 behind quarterback Zevi Eckhaus 189 yards on 16 of 28 passing attempts. Defensively, Anthony Palano led the Cougars with 13 total tackles and Parker McKenna‘s ten total tackles.
10) Boise State scored a 47 to 14 over Appalachian State behind QB Maddux Madsen threw for 321 yards on 25 of 37 passing attempts with receiver Latrell Caples caught five passes for 84 yards and two scores. Boen Phelps intercepted a pass and took to the house from 33 yards and A’Marion McCoy taking a 26-yard interception to the end zone.
11) Yale downed Cornell 41 to 24 this past Saturday behind running back Josh Pitsenberger‘s 142 yards on 28 carries and three scores while receiver Mason Shipp‘s seven receptions for 85 yards while Abu Kamara recorded two interceptions totaling 90 yards.
12) Lehigh climbed to five wins with a 44 to 20 win over Pennsylvania. RB Luke Yoder 25 rushes for 173 yards and two scores and Jaden Green for 94 yards and 14 carries while receiver Geoffrey Jamiel topped the team with eight receivers on 132 yards and a score. Penn was led by Liam O’Brien threw for three scores with a 28 of 37 effort for 316 yards with receivers Jared Richardson twelve catches for 141 yards and two scores and Bisi Owens ten receptions for 101 yards.
13) Austin Peay posted a 42 to ten win over Utah Tech behind QB Chris Parson threw for 204 yards on 18 of 25 attempts and three touchdowns and carried eleven times for 82 yards.
14) North Dakota State claimed a 51 to 13 win over South Dakota behind quarterback Cole Payton threw for 273 yards on 14 of 18 passing and two touchdowns and ran eleven tackles for 102 yards.
15) In a close game Western Carolina downed Campbell 42 to 35 score. QB Taron Dickens‘ 26 of 40 attempts for 427 yards and four scores. Four receivers accounted for more than 75 yards a piece with James Tyre six for 101 yards, Painter Richards-Baker five for 99 yards, Michael Rossin three for 88 yards and Malik Knight four receptions for 76 yards.
