Texas Christian Uses Strong 3rd Quarter to Pull Away

Purdue opened the night game at Ross-Aide Stadium in front of a large crowd (60,037) without Quarterback Elijah Sindelar, who is still recovering from a concussion.

Out of tunnel comes Gilbert, Arizona Red Shirt freshman Jake Plummer making his first Boilermaker start.

Plummer’s first pass was a completion of six yards to Mishawaka, Indiana Zander Horvath.

The next series of plays would eventually lead to Purdue’s kicker, Charlotte, North Carolina’s J D Dellinger splitting the uprights from 31 yards  out to put Purdue up early 3 to 0.

Texas Christian would tie the game up with a Jonathan Song 24 yard field goal.

The Horned Frogs would take a lead they would never relinquish when Anderson would take it to the house with a nifty 32 yard gallop. Song would hit the extra point to send TCU up 10-3.

The second stanza saw both teams collecting field goals as Purdue’s Dellinger connecting from 53 yards and TCU’s Song would hit from 40 yards out to end the half 13 to 6 Texas Christian.

Texas Christian would pull away in the third stanza as Davis would receive a 22 yard pass from Max Duggan and a one yard run from Sewo Olonilua and another Song extra point to open up 27 to 6 lead.

The fourth quarter saw another TCU score when Anderson scored his second touchdown from eight yards out to push the margin to 21 as TCU led 34 to 6.

Purdue would score late in the fourth as Plummer hit Staten Island, New York Redshirt Freshman Amad Anderson, Jr. with a 54 yard strike.

The Horned Frogs behind a well oiled offensive line tallied 346 net yards rushing led by Anderson’s 170 and Olonilua’s 106.

Duggan passed for 70 yards while Jalen Reagor was the leading receiver with 29 yards on three receptions.

Purdue’s Plummer threw  for 181 yards while King Doerue led the Boilermaker rushers with 29 yards.

Brycen Hopkins caught four passes for 77 yards.

Sophomore sensation Rondale Moore was held to zero yards rushing and caught only three balls for 25 yards.
