Head Coach Owen Handy’s Ravens came out smoking hitting three pointer after three pointer but Engineer Head Coach Rusty Loyd’s unit stayed steady and didn’t panic.
From that point on, the game was a slugfest with both teams attacking each other whether it was in the paint or beyond the arc.
Rose Hulman led at the first break 41-38.
The second half was more of the same with the Ravens getting back to setting ball screens, attacking the basket and playing intense defense.
Not to be outdone the Engineers matched the Ravens with hard play and strong defense.
Anderson made a run midway in the second half and opened up a 10 point lead that they would work off of for the entirety of the game.
Nathan Acree, 6’3, Senior from McCutcheon led the way with 24 points, six boards, three blocks and three assists, Former DeKalb star Cole Hartman, 6’6, Sophomore scored 18 points, Trevor Lucas, 6′, Junior from Brownsburg added 14 points along with five assists and six boards while former Valley Christian player 6’2, Sophomore Mike Peters added 12 pints.
Stanley Duncan added seven points, Brett Anderson, three points, Cory Kreiger, five points, Joseph Line, two points and Malik Laffoon added two points.
Rose was led by North Central grad Wade Stallings, 13 points, Stephen Schueth, 13 points and Terre Haute North Vigo standout Charles Aimone’s 13 points.
Anderson goes to 9-5, 6-1 in the Heartland while Rose slips to 5-9, 3-4 HCAC.
