The #21 Excel H Sports Ranked Oregon Ducks held off the Indiana Hoosiers 73-64 Tuesday Night at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon.  This was the first meeting between these two programs since Indiana beat Oregon 68-60 in Portland, Oregon on December 28, 1978, when current Indiana coach Mike Woodson finished with 36 points and nine rebounds for the Hoosiers. Indiana had won all three meetings with Oregon that were all played in Portland winning 102-64 on December 30, 1966, and 56-47 on December 29, 1973.

Jackson Shelstad scored eight of his 17 points in the final 90 seconds as Oregon closed the game on a 10-0 run. Trey Galloway hit a 3-pointer with 1:58 left to give Indiana a 64-63 lead but, with the shot clock winding down, Shelstad answered with a 3 from well beyond NBA range and the Ducks led the rest of the way. Bittle stole the ball, was fouled and hit both free throws with 57 seconds remaining and Shelstad hit 5 of 6 from the foul line from there to seal as the Ducks finished the home portion of the schedule with a 12-4 record.

Oregon is 22-8 overall and 11-8 in the Big Ten and will travel to Washington to close out the regular season. The Ducks will most likely be the #8 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis barring a wild finish to the regular season and would need several results to go their way. The Ducks have won six in a row which is the longest single season conference winning streak since the 2016-17 season when they played in the PAC-12.

Nate Bittle finished with 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four blocks for Oregon. TJ Bamba added 13 points and Kwame Evans Jr. added 10 points. Oregon shot 39% 24-61 from the field and hit 6-25 for 24% from behind the 3-point line but made 19 of the 21 from the free-throw line for 90%. The Ducks pulled down 43 rebounds, dished out 15 assists, 7 steals, 7 blocks and committed 9 turnovers.

Indiana is 18-12 overall and 9-10 in the Big Ten and will host Ohio State on Saturday afternoon in the final home game for Head Coach Mike Woodson who announced a month ago he is stepping down at the end of the season. The Hoosiers and Buckeyes are both 9-10 in the conference after the Buckeyes beat Nebraska in double-overtime Tuesday Night in Columbus. The winner of this game will be the #9 seed in the upcoming Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis. The loser will be the #10 seed

Trey Galloway led Indiana with 16 points. Oumar Ballo added 10 points and 12 rebounds for his 10th double-double this season and the 44th of his career.  Galloway played in his 138th career game to become the all-time leader in Indiana University Men’s Basketball history in career games played breaking Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell’s mark of 137 games from 2012-16.  Indiana finished the game 26-65 from the field for 40%, 9-25 from three-point range for 36% and 3-7 from the free throw line for 43%. The Hoosiers pulled down 36 rebounds, dished out 15 assists, 5 steals, 5 blocks and committed 10 turnovers.

There were 10 ties, and 10 lead changes and Oregon had the biggest lead of the game leading by nine with 6:24 left in the first half. Oregon led 35-32 at halftime and outscored the Hoosiers 38-32 in the second half. Indiana led by three points with 13:21 left in the ball game for their largest lead. The Hoosiers wore their Black Uniforms for the second game in a row after debuting them against Washington on Saturday. All eight Hoosiers that played Tuesday Night scored at least four points and grabbed at least one rebound.
