Nebraska Women Win, Purdue Women Show Life

The Nebraska Women’s basketball squad overcame three-point halftime difference to escape Mackey Arena with a 74 to 68 win over the Purdue Women.
The largest beneficiary for the Huskers was the production of 5’11, Omaha, Nebraska freshman, Britt Prince as she scored eleven of her 23 total points in the final stanza. Prince also canned all nine charity attempts.
Lincoln, Nebraska Senior Alexis Markowski scored 18 points on six of fourteen shots from the floor and six of seven from the free throw line.
Alberte Rimdall scored eleven points off the bench and Kendall Moriarty scored five in relief.
Jessica Petrie, Sophomore, Gold Coast, Australia scored eight points and collected six rebounds in the win.
Bismarck, North Dakota, Sophomore Logan Nissley scored five points, five rebounds and four assists in the win.
For the game, Nebraska was 27 of 61 shots from the floor (44.3%), 2 of 13 (19.4%) from behind the arc but a stellar 18 of 19 from the free throw line (94.7%).
Nebraska totaled 28 rebounds, 12 assists and 14 steals.
For Purdue, which gave great effort throughout the game was led by South Bend Washington’s, Rashunda Jones’ 20 points and a perfect 10 of 10 from the line and contributed four assists.
Northwestern High School graduate McKenna Layden scored 12 points and hauled in a team leading six rebounds.
Destini Lombard scored eleven points on five of eight from the floor.
Sophie Swanson scored 11 points off the Boilermaker bench.
Purdue shot 50% from the floor on 24 of 48 attempts, nine of twenty (45.3%) from the three-point area and an outstanding 11 of 12 from the line.
Purdue collected 29 rebounds, 14 assists but turned the ball over 21 times in the loss.
Nebraska moves to 16-5 over-all and 7-3 in the B1G Ten Conference.
Purdue falls to 7-14 over-all and 0-10 in the B1G Ten Conference.
