Lou Groza Award Stars of the Week for Week 11

Nov. 11, 2025 (WEST PALM BEACH) – College football’s top kicking award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award presented by the Orange Bowl, recognizes three of the top kickers each week from FBS division teams as the “Stars of the Week.”

Stone

Texas Tech claimed its first nine-win season since 2009 thanks to a performance by Stone Harrington that earns him his second “Stars of the Week” honor in the last seven days. The junior from Colleyville, Texas became the kicker in program history to go 5-for-5 on field goals in the Red Raiders’ 29-7 win over previously unbeaten BYU. He connected from 47, 39, 34, 29 and 27 yards out, adding two PATs for a 17-point performance. Over the last two weeks, he’s doubled his field goal total and now sits 16-for-19 on the year.

No kicker did more to lift their team to victory this week than Delaware’s Nate Reed, who converted an onside kick with 33 seconds left and then booted a 51-yard field goal to give the Blue Hens a 25-24 comeback win over Louisiana Tech. The long-distance game-winner was the fourth field goal of the day for the senior from Manheim, Pennsylvania, having connected from 41, 28 and 27 yards in the first half. Among the records he set or tied, the four makes tie for the most in a game in program history, while the 51 yarder marks a career-long.

They say rain is lovely weather for ducks, and while it slowed the Oregon offense, the elements heightened the drama for Atticus Sappington’s 39-yard game-winner, giving the Ducks an 18-16 road victory over Iowa. Despite the wet field, the senior from Portland, Oregon notched his first 3-FG game of the season, adding makes from 46 and 40 yards out. All three of his field goals came with less than a minute on the clock, closing out the second, third and fourth quarters. The 46 yarder is his longest of the year and a new long since joining the Ducks prior to last season.

The Award is named for National Football League Hall of Fame kicker Lou “The Toe” Groza, who played 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Groza won four NFL championships with Cleveland and was named NFL Player of the Year in 1954. Although an All-Pro offensive lineman as well, Groza ushered in the notion that there should be a place on an NFL roster for a kicker.
