INDIANA STATE WRAPS NON-CONFERENCE SLATE WITH SEMO TUESDAY

TERRE HAUTE, IND. — The Indiana State University men’s basketball team finishes the non-conference portion of the 2020-21 schedule Tuesday, Dec. 22, as the Sycamores welcome Southeast Missouri State to the Hulman Center for a 1 p.m. contest. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3 and WIBQ 97.9.

LARAVIA LETS LOOSE
Sophomore Jake LaRavia was a one-man wrecking crew against Ball State Saturday, Dec. 19, pouring in a career-high 27 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor and 13-of-14 from the free throw line. The Indianapolis native’s 14 free throw attempts and 13 makes were both new career-highs, while his three steals on the defensive end also matched his career-best.

KEY CONTINUES HIS CLIMB

Senior Tyreke Key jumped two spots on the Indiana State all-time scoring list when he scored 12 against Ball State Dec. 19. The Celina, Tenn. native has scored 1,305 career points over his three-plus years as a Sycamore, and passed both Dan McDonald (1947-50) and Michael Menser (1997-2001) to move into the top-15 in program history. The guard trails 14th place on the all-time list, currently held by Ray Goddard (1959-62), by 16 points.

WILLIAMS DOING THE DIRTY WORK
Sophomore Tre Williams may have had a quiet day in the scoring column in the Sycamores’ 10-point victory over in-state rival Ball State, but the Reynoldsburg, Ohio native made his presence known on the boards, pulling down a career-high 10 to lead all players. His 10 boards topped his previous high of nine, accomplished last season at Missouri State (Feb. 16).

CASHING IN AT THE CHARITY STRIPE

Indiana State has done its best to live at the free throw line this season, going to the charity stripe 19, 13, 20, and 28 times this season. The Sycamores tied their season-best of 75 percent (21-of-28) for their second consecutive game of 20-or-more free throw attempts and 75 percent shooting. ISU went 15-of-20 from the line in their loss to Saint Louis.

REMEMBER WHEN?

It has been over 18 years since Indiana State and Southeast Missouri State last faced one another in men’s basketball. ISU won that meeting in New Orleans, La. by a 68-55 final, led by then-freshman David Moss who scored 26 points. In fact, the last time the Sycamores and Redhawks did battle, freshman starter Julian Larry was only eight months old!

BATTLE TESTED
The Sycamores non-conference schedule to date has been one of the toughest in college basketball. According to KenPom, the Trees have taken on the 18th-strongest schedule in the country, with their opponents coming in at No. 15 in average adjusted offensive efficiency (107.6) and No. 10 in average adjusted defensive efficiency (92.8).

HULMAN CENTER DOMINANCE
ISU improved to 2-0 inside Hulman Center with its 67-57 victory over Ball State Dec. 19. The Sycamores are now 2-0 at home this season after going 12-1 in Terre Haute in 2019-20. The 12-1 record marked the best under head coach Greg Lansing, as the Sycamores had not won 10 or more home games since the 2015-16 season. Out of the 13 home games in 2019-20, Indiana State held opponents to 60 points or less in nine, and the Sycamores held Ball State to a season-low 57 points Saturday.
