Excel H Sports College Football AFTER THE GAME SATURDAY MORNING WRAPUP

Friday night college action in the FBS saw the Memphis Tigers improve to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in American Conference action with a 38 to 14 win over Rice, 4-5 overall and 1-4 in American Conference play.

Memphis QB Brendon Lewis was 18 of 22 passing for 225 yards and a score while carrying the ball 12 times for another 57 yards and a score. Cortez Braham, Jr. caught three passes for 66 yards while four players totaled ten tackles each in the win. Sam Brumfield 12, Kamari Wilson 11 and both Chris Bracy and DeMarco Ward totaling ten.

Atlantic Coast Conference play saw North Carolina pick up their first conference win under Bill Belichick and the team’s first win over another Power 4 conference team this season.

UNC improved to 3-5 overall and 1-3 in ACC play while the Orange of Syracuse fall to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in ACC play.

Tar Hill QB Gio Lopez was 15 of 19 threw the air for 216 yards and two touchdowns while also running for 33 more yards. RB’s Demon June rushed for 101 yards on 13 carries and a score while Davion Gause picked up 57 yards on 15 carries. June also caught two passes for 81 yards and a score while fellow WR Jordan Shipp caught six passes for 64 yards and a score.

The Bulldogs of Louisiana Tech improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in Conference USA play with a 55 to 14 win over the BearKats of Sam Houston State.

Louisiana Tech QB Blake Baker passed for 221 yards on 17 of 21 and a score while RB Clay Thevenin carried the ball eleven times for 143 yards and crossed the goal line three times. RB Omiri Wiggins rushed 14 times for 136 yards and a score while Andrew Burnette caught three passes for 72 yards and a score.

FCS action saw the Penn Quakers down Brown 28 to 21 behind QB Liam O’Brien‘s 222 yards of passing on 18 of 27 along with 10 carries for 67 yards and RB Donte West 12 carries for 60 yards and two scores. Sean Williams, Jr. rushed for 89 yards on 13 carries and a score.

Penn improves to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Ivy League play while Brown drops to 3-4 overall and winless in Ivy League play.

The Idaho Vandals downed Northern Arizona in overtime on a two-yard plunge from Hayden Kincheloe to secure the win over the Lumberjacks. Kincheloe carried the ball only one time before the game decider.

Vandal QB Joshua Woods threw for 180 yards on 15 of 31 passing attempts and two scores while RB Elisha Cummings rushed for 106 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown.

Lumberjack QB Ty Pennington threw for 267 yards on 23 of 34 passing and a score while RB Seth Cornell ran 18 times for 116 yards and WR’s Kolbe Katsis was the recipient of five passes for 98 yards and Jeter Purdy for 75 yards on five made catches.

Idaho moves to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the Big Sky Conference while Northern Arizona drops to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in Big Sky action.
