Excel H Sports SPOTLIGHT Episode VII

Excel H Sports SPOTLIGHT is highlighting BEYOND THE POWER 4 and FCS individual accomplishments in their team setting. Occasionally, we will add a FBS individual in a team setting.

1) Florida Atlantic  (3-3, 1-1 in CUSA) 25 Western Kentucky (5-2, 3-1 in CUSA) 6

Florida Atlantic claimed the win over the Hilltoppers behind the QB play of Keyone Jenkins, 17/25 for 184 yards and a score while RB Kejon Owens rushed 22 times for 195 yards and crossed the goal line. WR Alex Perry brought in three receptions for 86 yards and on defense, Percy Courtney, Jr. and Josiah Taylor both posted eight total tackle games.

2) Texas El Paso (2-5, 1-2 in CUSA) 35 Sam Houston State in Conference USA play behind QB Skyler Locklear 21/26 for 236 yards and two touchdowns while Locklear and RB Anthony Emory carried the ball 28 times for a total of 144 yards on the ground. WR Kenny Odom caught ten passes for 67 yards and one touchdown while on defense, Micah Davey totaled 14 tackles and 13 the solo variety.

3) Utah State downed San Jose State in Mountain West action 30 to 25 when kicker Tanner Ricker connected on this third field goal of the game to push the Aggies lead to five points late in the game. QB Bryson Barnes 22/31 for 326 yards and a score and he carried the ball 16 times for 54 yards. WR Anthony Garcia was on the receiving end of three passes but garnered 121 yards and a score while fellow WR Braden Pegan caught seven passes for 93 yards while on defense, Bronson Olevao Jr. recorded 14 total tackles with five being solo.

4) San Jose State was led by QB Walker Eget 27/49 for 340 yards and two scores along with RB’s Steve Chavez-Soto rushed for 102 yards and one TD and Lamar Radcliffe carried 13 times for 74 yards. WR’s Leland Smith 4 receptions for 116 yards and a score along with Kyri Shoels seven receptions for 104 yards.

5) Brigham Young (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) 24 Utah (5-2, 2-2 Big 12) 21

BYU QB Bear Bachmeier was 13 of 22 passing for 166 yards and a score while RB L J Martin ran 26 times for 122 yards while WR’s Parker Kingston hauled in four passes for 50 yards and Chase Roberts caught two passes for 43 yards. On defense, Jack Kelly totaled seven tackles, with five being solo and a sack while Faletau Satuala accounted for 12 total tackles and eight solos along with Tanner Wall added 10 total tackles.

6) Utah State was led by Daniel Bray 10 carries for 121 yards and a score and QB Devon Dampier fifteen rushes for 64 yards while passing for 244 yards on 20 of 36 passing attempts. WR Ryan Davis was on the end of seven passes for 66 yards and a score.

7) Alabama Birmingham (3-4, 1-3 in American) 31 Memphis (6-1, 2-1 in American) 24

UAB QB Ryder Burton passed for 251 yards and three touchdowns on 20 0f 27 passing while RB’s Solomon Beebe had five carries for 106 yards and a score and fellow running mate Jevon Jackson rushed 17 times for 54 yards while Iverson Hicks caught eleven passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns.

8) Central Michigan (4-3, 2-1 in Mid-American Conference) 27 Bowling Green (3-4, 1-2 in MAC) 6

CMU RB Angel Flores carried the ball 18 times for 72 yards and three scores while on defense, Jordan Kwiatkowski totaled 14 total tackles which included seven solo tackles. CMU rushing game consisted of 46 carries for 203 total yards.

9) Tulane  (6-1, 3-0 in American Conference) 24 Army (3-4, 2-3 in American) 17

Tulane QB Jake Retzlaff connected on 22 passes in 29 attempts for 201 yards and two scores while carrying the ball eight times for 62 yards and another score. Army QB Cale Hellams carried the ball 39 times for 155 yards and two touchdowns while passing for 125 yards while WR Brady Anderson caught four passes for 97 yards.

10) Ball State (3-4, 2-1 in Mid-American) 42 Akron (2-6, 1-3 in MAC) 28

Cardinal QB Kiael Kelly passed for 121 yards on 10 of 19 passing attempts and rushed for 58 yards and three scores. RB Qua Ashley carried the ball 20 times for 143 yards and one touchdown and WR Koby Gross caught three passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. On defense, Nathan Voorhis had five total tackles, three solo and 1 1/2 for loss while Michael Gravely, Jr. totaled seven tackles on defense.  Akron QB Ben Finley threw for 291 yards on 22 of 40 that resulted in three scores.

11) Oregon State (1-7, 1-4 at home) 45 Lafayette (5-3, 2-2 on road) 13

OSU RB Anthony Hankerson carried the ball 25 times for 204 yards and four touchdowns while QB Gabarri Johnson toted the ball six times for 82 yards and one score. On defense, OSU had four different players combine for six tackle for loss. That group included, Jojo Johnson, twice, Shamar Meikle twice, Mason White once and Aiden Sullivan, one.

12) Butler (5-3, 3-1 in Pioneer) 23 Dayton (5-2, 3-1 in Pioneer) 17

Bulldog QB Reagan Andrew threw 23 times completing 18 times for 256 yards and two touchdowns and carried the ball 20 times for 78 yards. WR’s Ethan Loss hauled in three passes for 93 yards and a score with Archie Cox scoring a touchdown with three times for 89 yards.

13) Harvard (5-0) 31 Merrimack (3-5) 7

Harvard QB Jaden Craig threw for 305 yards on 17 of 29 attempts and a score while RB D J Gordon rushed eight times for 104 yards and two scores and WR’s Brady Blackburn caught four passes for 110 yards and Ryan Osborne also caught four passes for another 91 yards and a score.

14) South Dakota State (7-0, 3-0 in Missouri Valley Conference) 35 Murray State (0-6, 0-2 in MVC) 14

QB Luke Marble connected on 13 of 21 passing attempts for 189 yards and two touchdowns while RB’s Julius Loughridge rushed 25 times for 88 yards and Josiah Johnson carried ten times for 58 yards and a score. WR’s Alex Bullock caught six passes for 99 yards and Jack Smith brought in another five for 91 yards and crossed the goal line twice. Kicker Max Pelham accounted for 234 yards on six kicks, including three touchbacks and two inside the 20 yard line.

15) Chattanooga (3-4, 2-1 in Southern Conference) 42 East Tennessee State (3-5, 1-3 in Southern) 38

QB Camden Ortt connected on 20 passes on 32 attempts for 343 yards and four scores with three touchdown passes in the final seven minutes of the game. RB Justus Durant carried the ball 21 times for 95 yards while WR’s Markell Quick caught six passes for over 100 yards and A J Little caught three passes for 76 yards. East Tennessee State RB Devontae Houston carried 23 times for 171 yards and a score with Jason Albritton nine carries for 82 yards and two scores.
