Fresno State Wins in Final Minute Over Purdue

In a newly refurbished Ross Ade Stadium, the Fresno State Bulldogs marched the field, and scored the winning touchdown in front of an opening day crowd of 58,898 as Mikey Keene completed 31 of 44 passes for 366 yards with four touchdowns, including the game-winner to wideout Erik Brooks from 22 yards out with just 59 seconds remaining.

Right before the game winning drive Boonville, Indiana’s Devin Mockabee dashed up the middle with 4:36 remaining in the game to put the Boilers up 35 to 32.

And before that, both defenses showed much more work is in line to have a successful season.

Both Fresno State and Purdue moved the ball effectively throughout the season opener.

Texas transfer, Hudson Card proved his worth, as he completed 17 of 30 passes for 254 yards and two touchdowns including Deion Burks who snared four receptions for a team high 152 yards.

Mockobee rushed 16 times for 67 yards and a score, Dylan Downing added 17 yards on five attempts on the ground.

Through the air, Abdur Rahmaan Yaseen, four catches for 46 yars, T J Sheffield, three catches for 22 yars and Max Klare caught two passes for 22 yards.

Things were looking good for the Boilers, as they took the second half kickoff and Tyrone Tracy, Jr. took the ball to the end zone with a 98-yard sprint down the sidelines.

True freshman Dillon Thieneman led the team with 10 tackles in his first game.

For the Fresno State Bulldogs, Elijah Gilliam rushed for 93 yards on 20 attempts for a 4.7 yards per average to lead the team.

Erik Brooks led the receiving corps with nine catches for 170 yards, Jaelen Gill caught eight passes for 65 yards, Tre Watson, four grabs for fourty yards, Jalen Moss caught five balls for another 38 yards.

Fresno State now takes on Eastern Washington while Purdue travels to Virginia Tech.
