IU Basketball Brings Bloomington Back to Reality

Less than 24 hours after the Indiana Hoosiers Football Team won the National Championship in Miami. The Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Basketball took to the court at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan Tuesday Night and lost to the #4 Excel H Sports Ranked Michigan Wolverines 86-72. Indiana is 12-7 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten as the Hoosiers have lost four in a row and the last three by double digits.
Tucker DeVries led Indiana with 15 points, Nick Dorn scored 14 and Sam Alexis and Reed Bailey added 11 points apiece. Lamar Wilkerson was held to 8 points and Tayton Conerway played 2 minutes and did not score. The Hoosiers were 23-57 from the field for 47%, 11-34 from three-point range for 34% and 15-18 from the free throw line for 83%. Indiana pulled down 25 rebounds, 13 assists, 4 steals, 3 blocks and 10 turnovers.
Eliott Cadeau led the Wolverines with 19 points and 10 points in the opening minutes of the game. Yaxel Lendeborg added 15 points and Aday Mara scored 13 points. Michigan went 27-53 from the field for 51%, 10-25 from three-point range for 40%, and 22-33 from the free throw line for 67%. The Wolverines pulled down 41 rebounds, 14 assists, 6 steals, 6 blocks and 12 turnovers.
Michigan is 17-1 overall and 7-1 in the Big Ten. The Wolverines jumped to a 9-0 lead before Reed Bailey put the Hoosiers on the board at the 14:29 mark. Michigan led 40-29 at halftime and outscored Indiana 46-43 in the second half and never trailed in the ball game. Michigan Head Coach Dusty May is an Indiana University Graduate and grew up just 16 Miles southwest of Bloomington graduating from Eastern Greene High School.
Indiana is on the road Friday at 6 PM against Rutgers. With the success of the Hoosiers Football program nobody is focused on the basketball team and their recent struggles under first year Head Coach Darian DeVries. But with football season compete and fans getting ready to celebrate the National Championship on Saturday afternoon at 1 PM the Hoosiers are going to have to get it fixed sooner rather than later because Hoosier Nation is about change its focus and wants to keep on winning just like the Football team did 16 times this season.
