Ohio State Uses Strong Second Quarter To Advance

Ohio State and Michigan gave it all they had in a hard fought, possession by possession game that was decided in the second quarter when the Buckeyes outscored Michigan 18 to 10 points to take a 32 to 26 lead they would never relinquish.

Early in the third quarter Ohio State opened up a 12 points  lead that would be closed to four in the fourth quarter by Michigan, after a Wolverine run on eight points at the nine minute mark.

Michigan would only turn the ball over three times to the Buckeyes 15.

Ohio State would score 17 points on fast breaks and outscore Michigan 11 to 4 from the bench.

Five Buckeyes scored  in double figures led by Freshman Madison Greene’s 13, Lombard, Illinois’ Aaliyah Patty’s 11 and Freshman Jacy Sheldon’s 11 while both Sophomore Dorka Juhasz and Braxtin Miller’s ten points.

Cranston, Rhode Island’s Janai Crooms was crucial in the win with eight second quarter points.

Cleveland, Ohio Sophomore Naz Hillmon scored 22 points and hauled in 16 rebounds.

Hailey Brown added 14 points and seven rebounds and Akiereh Johnson scored 12 points and six boards for the Wolverines.

Ohio State moves on to play top seeded Maryland for the BiG Ten Women’s Conference Basketball Championship presented by SoFi.
