Purdue, Illinois, Maryland Collect Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors

Boilermakers’ Kaufman-Renn, Illini’s Riley, and Terps’ Queen score Big Ten weekly accolades

ROSEMONT, Ill.– The Big Ten Conference has announced its Men’s Basketball Players of the Week for the week of February 3-9, 2025.

Player of the Week
Trey Kaufman-Renn, Purdue

F – Jr. – 6-9 – Sellersburg, Ind. – Silver Creek

• Posted 24.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, as Purdue went 2-0

• Shot 18-of-30 (.600) from the field and 11-of-12 (.917) from the free throw line, while securing 11 offensive rebounds

• Scored 25 points with seven rebounds and a steal in a 90-81 win at Iowa

• Paired 25 points, 10 boards, and a pair of blocked shots in a 90-72 victory over USC

• Claims third Player of the Week honor

Co-Freshmen of the Week

Will Riley, Illinois
F – 6-8 – Kitchener, Ontario, Canada – The Phelps School (Pa.)

• Averaged 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 6.5 assists as the Illini split a pair of games

• Posted 27 points, along with a career-high tying nine rebounds and a career best seven assists in a 95-74 win over Minnesota

• Became the first NCAA freshman with a game of at least 27 points, nine boards, and seven assists without a turnover since the 1996-97 season

• Scored a team-high 18 points, including 11 on the second half, to go with six assists in an 82-73 loss at Rutgers

• Earns his third Freshman of the Week award

• Last Illinois Freshman of the Week: Will Riley (February 3, 2025)

Derik Queen, Maryland
C – 6-10 – Baltimore, Md. – Montverde

• Tallied 21.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists in leading Maryland to a 1-1 week

• Paired a career-high 29 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists in a 90-81 win over Rutgers

• Became the first player this year in the Big Ten with at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a game

• Added 13 points, eight rebounds tow assists, and two blocks in a 73-70 loss at Ohio State

• Earns his fourth Freshman of the Week award
