Rangers Wrap Up Indiana 2A Girls’ Basketball Title

Forest Park Notches 1st Girls’ basketball title

Today, February 26th, 2022, the Forest Park Rangers wrapped up their first state title at the expense of the Frankton Eagles who were shooting for their first state title too.

Amber Tretter, 6’1, Junior put her stamp on the game early and often from inside the paint at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Tretter would finish the night with 22 points on seven of twelve two-point field goals and seven of eight free throws. Tretter also collected a state final record typing 17 rebounds with eight offensive boards and nine on the defensive end. Tretter tied Evansville Mater Dei, Tori Shickel and Fort Wayne Canterbury’s Katherine Smith.

 

Also, aiding the Rangers were Katlyn Betz, a 5’8 Sophomore with seven points to go along with Carley Begle, a 5’9, Junior’s seven points. Ali Welp, 5’8 Senior added five as did Gabey Gray who netted five points.

Frankton was led by Amaya Collins, 5’7, Sophomore with 15 and Senior Lauryn Bates with nine.

Cagney Utterback, 5’2, Senior compiled a team high seven assists.
