2021 B1G Schedule: Same Teams & Locations. Some Different Dates.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference today announced a revised 2021 conference football schedule prompted by six games that adjusted locations as a result of changes made during the 2020 scheduling process. The Big Ten’s Administrators Council, which includes the Directors of Athletics and Senior Women Administrators from all 14 member institutions, approved the revisions.

The changes are relatively minimal regarding Ohio State’s schedule.

Comparing it with the prior version of the 2021 schedule, Ohio State’s revised 2021 schedule features the same nine Big Ten teams, the same dates for home and away games and the same locations per date (home or away). The changes are reflected in a shuffled lineup of game dates.

Ohio State still opens on the road at Minnesota on Thursday, Sept. 2, has its same off week of Oct. 16 and closes the season against Michigan in Ann Arbor on Nov. 27.

The changes involving the other seven games are reflected in the sequencing of those games in the schedule below:

Updated 2021 Football Schedule 

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Feb. 5, 2021) – The Big Ten announced updates to its 2021 football schedule on Friday. Rutgers is set to play the previously-announced 12 opponents at the same location, but with shuffled dates for the conference slate. The schedule was updated in order to accommodate several games across the league that adjusted locations as a result of changes made during the 2020 scheduling process.

The Scarlet Knights are still set to open at home versus Temple on Sept. 4 before traveling to Syracuse on Sept. 11. The third non-conference game is against Delaware at SHI Stadium on Sept. 18.

Big Ten play begins at Michigan on Sept. 25, with other road contests at Northwestern (Oct. 16), Illinois (Oct. 30), Indiana (Nov. 13) and Penn State (Nov. 20). The four home conference games are scheduled versus Ohio State (Oct. 2), Michigan State (Oct. 9), Wisconsin (Nov. 6) and the regular season finale against Maryland (Nov. 27). The open date is week eight.

Rutgers matched its program high with three Big Ten victories in 2020. The Scarlet Knights had 14 players recognized in the All-Big Ten voting, the most for the program since joining the league. In addition, RU posted a team-best 26.7 points per game in a Big Ten season, a gain of 13.4 points per game from the previous season for the fourth-best improvement nationally. The defense collected 19 takeaways and led the conference with 7.8 tackles-for-loss, while the kickoff return units were one of four nationally with at least three kick return touchdowns. Academically, Rutgers saw 46 student-athletes earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, a program high.

BIG TEN ADJUSTS 2021 FOOTBALL SCHEDULES

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa football schedule has been adjusted for the 2021 season, with opponents remaining as originally announced, but the sequence of opponents changing. That includes the continuation of the season-ending contest against Nebraska being played on Black Friday (Nov. 26). Schedule changes throughout the Big Ten were announced by the conference office Friday.

 

Iowa’s September schedule does not change, as the Hawkeyes open the season Sept. 4 in Kinnick Stadium against Indiana to kickoff the Big Ten season. Iowa is at Iowa State the following Saturday for the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game, before returning home to host Kent State and Colorado State on consecutive weekends.

 

Iowa travels to Maryland on Oct. 2, with that contest moving from Oct. 23, which now becomes the open date on the Hawkeyes’ schedule. Penn State visits Iowa City on Oct. 9 as originally scheduled. Iowa’s Homecoming contest against Purdue moves from Oct. 30 to Oct. 16. The Hawkeyes close the month with a trip to Wisconsin on Oct. 30.

 

The final month of the regular season begins with Iowa traveling to Northwestern on Nov. 6. Home dates with Minnesota (Nov. 13) and Illinois (Nov. 20) remain unchanged. The Hawkeyes close the regular season at Nebraska on Nov. 26, the day after Thanksgiving. Iowa and the Cornhuskers will be playing on Black Friday for the 11th straight season.

INDIANA FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES 2021 SCHEDULE

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Big Ten Conference announced its 2021 football schedule on Friday afternoon. Indiana will open the season at Iowa on Saturday, Sept. 4, and kick off its six-game home schedule against Idaho on Saturday, Sept. 11.

All other opponents and locations remained intact from the previously approved version of the schedule. The only additional changes involved the sequencing of games throughout the schedule, including the return of traditional rivalries in the final week of the season such as Iowa-Nebraska and Minnesota-Wisconsin.

Fans who held season tickets for the 2020 season will be able to renew their seats online through their My Tickets account in the near future. The value of all season ticket and parking purchases for the 2021 season is guaranteed under the IU Athletics Ticket Assurance Policy.

Fans interested in becoming season ticket holders for IU Football can place their season ticket seat deposit today. Deposits for new season tickets are on sale now for $50 per ticket. The deposit will be applied toward the season ticket purchase. Each account that places a seat deposit will receive instructions via email on how to complete their full season ticket purchase.
