Purdue’s Carsen Edwards and Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ share Player of the Week honors;

Terrapins’ Jalen Smith named Freshman of the Week

 

Co-Players of the Week

Carsen Edwards, Purdue

G – Jr. – 6-1 – Atascocita, Texas – Atascocita

• Averaged 26.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds in two Purdue victories last week
• Scored 30 points in the season-opening win over Fairfield, the most for a Boilermaker in a season opener since the 1995-96 season
• Netted seven 3-pointers vs. Fairfield, tied for the fourth-most in a game in school history
• Tallied 23 points, five rebounds and five assists in victory over Ball State
• Earns his third career Big Ten Player of the Week honor
• Last Purdue Player of the Week: Carsen Edwards (Feb. 26, 2018)

 

Ethan Happ, Wisconsin

F – Sr. – 6-10 – Milan, Ill. – Rockridge

• Authored second triple-double in Wisconsin history (Josh Gasser on Jan. 23, 2011) and first in the Big Ten since 2016
• Posted 10 points, 11 rebounds, career-high 12 assists and four blocked shots in season-opening victory over Coppin State
• Became the first player in the NCAA to record a game with at least 10 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and four blocked shots since Dwyane Wade did so for Marquette in the 2003 Elite Eight
• Over the last 20 years, became the second player 6-10 or taller to hand out at least 12 assists in a game, along with Georgetown’s Greg Monroe in 2010
• Earns his third career Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Freshmen of the Week

Jalen Smith, Maryland

F – 6-10 – Baltimore, Md. – Mount St. Joseph

• Averaged 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in first two collegiate games
• Became the first Terrapin to record a double-double (19 points and 13 rebounds) in his college debut since Buck Williams in 1978
• Earns his first Freshman of the Week honor
• Last Maryland Freshman of the Week: Bruno Fernando (Feb. 19, 2018)
