Friday night around the country saw the University of Southern California (USC) improve to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the B1G Ten as they downed Northwestern 5-4 overall, 3-3 in the B1G Ten by the score of 38 to 17.

Trojan QB Jayden Maiava passed for 299 yards on 24 of 33 passing which resulted in two touchdowns. RB King Miller rushed for 127 yards on 15 carries which included a 55-yard scamper for a score. WR’s Makai Lemon caught 11 passes for 161 yards and included another plus 50-yard gain from scrimmage. Fellow receivers, Ja’Kobi Lane was on the end of seven passes for 74 yards and a score while TE Lake McRee pulled in three more Maiava passes for 52 yards.

On defense, Braylon Conley, Jide Abarisi, Braylan Shelby and Jahkeem Stewart all recorded a tackle for loss while Abarisi and Stewart notched a sack a piece.

Northwestern was led by QB Preston Stone on his 20 of 30 passing night while RB Caleb Komolafe rushed 17 times for 118 yards and five receptions for another 40.

In Big 12 action, Houston improved to 8 and 2 overall and 5-2 in the Big 12 as they held off University of Central Florida, 4-5 overall and 1-5 in the Big 12, 30 to 27 behind Quarterback Conner Weigman who threw for 223 yards on 20 of 31 passing resulting in two touchdowns despite three interceptions. Weigman also carried the ball 22 times for 82 yards. Wide Receivers Amare Thomas caught five passes for 103 yards and Ball State transfer, Tanner Koziol caught eight passes for 66 yards.

And finally, in American Conference action Tulane 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the American Conference bounced back after a setback last week to upset the Memphis Tigers, 8-2 overall and 4-2 in American Conference play, 38 to 32.

Tulane QB Jake Retlaff was 16 of 23 passing attempts for 332 yards and three scores while Running Back, Javin Gordon had 12 totes for 66 yards and WR’s Bryce Bohanon caught four passes for 101 yards and Shazz Preston snagged three himself for another 85 yards which resulted in two Green Wave scores.

The Memphis Tigers were led by QB Brendon Lewis 29 of 34 passing attempts for 317 yards and two touchdowns and WR’s Cortez Braham, Jr. 11 catches for 113 yards, Jamari Hawkins five receptions for 98 yards and a score along with Brady Kluse six catches for 83 yards and a score.
