Cornhuskers Pound Illini

The Nebraska Cornhuskers of Head Coach Amy Williams came out firing on all cylinders as they soared to a 26-17 first quarter break.

The halftime margin spread to 15 at the break.
Jaz Shelley, 5’9, Sophomore, Moe, Australia tallied 11 points, Alexis Markowski, 6’3, Freshman from Lincoln, Nebraska led the team with 13 boards on 4 of 8 shooting with three coming from behind the arc.

Sam Haiby, 5’9, Junior, Moorhead, Minnesota put in seven with 6’2, Sophomore, Isabelle Bourne, Canberra, Australia scored nine.
Shelley wore Illinois out in the second half, coming off of screens to find herself wide open and burying shot after shot. Shelley would end her night with 32 points and a team leading seven assists.
Jaz Shelley would go on a tie Kelly Mazzante’s three-point field goal record of nine, set in 2002.
Freshman sensation Alexs Markowski, 6’3, hit from under the basket and behind the arc as she tallied 22 points and added nine rebounds in her first BiG Ten tournament game.
Isabelle Bourne would add 15 points and Sam Haiby added 10 points and six assists.
For the Illini, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, 5’10, freshman guard led the team with 18 points, both Aaliyah Nye and Baltimore, Maryland, freshman scored 14. Kendall Bostic would lead the Illini with six rebounds.
