Most people in Purdue Boilermaker land are appreciative that 6’4, 220, Red-Shirt, Sophomore, Clarkston, Michigan native Ryan Browne returned to Ross Aide Stadium to ply his talents at the quarterback position.

Browne started eight games last season for Purdue but transferred to North Carolina in the spring but returned for more BiG Ten action.

Browne had a solid start of the season by completing 18 of his 26 passes for 311 yards and two scores.

Browne opened the day, in front of a crowd that reached 53,994 fans, with a 49-yard toss to 6′, Sophomore Arhmad Branch who zig-zagged his way into the end zone for a quick six/zero lead.

Branch comes to West Lafayette via Festus, Missouri.

Sophomore kicker Spencer Horvath added the extra point giving the Boilers a lead they would never relinquish.

Browne would use his legs as he ran in a score from five yards out for a score and after another Horvath extra point, the Boilers found themselves 14 up.

The scoring was not done in the first half as Boonville, Indiana, Senior, Devin Mockobee ran untouched in from four yards out and again after a Horvath extra point, the Boilers led the Cardinals 21-0 at the halfway break.

Purdue had a 246 total yards to Ball State’s 105 at halftime.

The Boilers would add ten second-half points to make the final margin at 31-0.

For the game, Browne was 18 of 26 for 311 yards and two touchdowns, Devin Mockobee rushed for 59 yards on fourteen carries and Southern California/Georgia, Las Vegas, Nevada, Senior Michael Jackson III caught six passes for 72 yards and a score.

Purdue’s defense was led by Tahj Ra-El with seven total tackles aided by Mani Powell’s five total tackles, Charles Correa with four and Braylon Charles, Crew Waldey, Sanders Ellis, C J Madden and T J Lindsay with three total tackles.

Ball State now travels to Auburn, Alabama while Purdue returns home to face the Saluki’s of Souhern Illinois.
