Illini and Badgers Down to the Wire in Game Two

Illinois, the 14th seed and the eleventh seeded Wisconsin Badgers played an intense first half at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, in Game Two of the 2022 BiG Ten Women’s Basketball tournament.

Wisconsin is still without standout Junior Sydney Hilliard, who was granted a leave of absence.

Illinois has come out in the second half and taken the battle to the Badgers. At the four-minute mark left in the third quarter, Illinois had taken a nine-point lead.

Illinois hit a remarkable nine of twelve shots from behind the arc for the game.

For the night, Head Coach Nancy Fahey’s Illini placed five players in double figures led by Aaliyah Nye’s 17, Erika Porter’s 15, Adalia McKenzie’s 14, Indiana native and Northwestern High School’s Kendall Bostic 12 and Jada Peebles with 12. Bostic led by both teams in rebounding with 16, that included five offensive boards.

Wisconsin’s Katie Nelson led all scorers with 27 behind brilliant shooting and floor play. Nelson hit 11 of 21 field goals while recording eight assists.

Julie Pospislova added 17 and Hallie Douglass added fifteen and eight boards.

The Illini win 75 to 66 moving their record to 7-19 and continuing in the tournament against Nebraska while Wisconsin under first year Head Coach Marisa Moseley finished 8 and 21.
